An afternoon at Hope On Haven Hill

Sunday, I had the privilege of spending time with the woman and staff at Hope on Haven Hill (HHH) to read @thisthinghasaname. I was also delighted that about half my audience was babies! Like little little welcome-to-the-world, babies!!!!

.

I was also filled with pride that my daughter was there to participate at her first book event... even though there was a playground, and she spent most of her time there, because...playground. 😅

.

Dog-Dog was a big hit, with the babies and their moms...our gentle boy, who along with our daughter are featured in the book.

.

Mostly, I am humbled that the women at HHH shared their afternoon with me, and shared their stories with me, about what they are going through. How brave they are to be working so hard to move through life.

.

And my heart ached and soared (all that the same time, if that's possible), as woman, after woman, mom, after mom, shared with me...that they wish they had this book when they were a child.

.

If you don't know, HHH is about empowering women to be successful in recovery, by providing a safe, nurturing home for pregnant women with substance use disorder, along with their children. It's an amazing organization, and I'm proud to serve as the Vice Chair, in their Board of Directors.
